How To Produce A Podcast


First and foremost, before you produce a podcast, you can also send the guests the guest guidelines for the podcast, so they have a better feel for what’s going to happen while recording.

Then you can have the hosts research all guests before the show, but if you recently created an interview that is pre-show, you can pull more knowledge and insights from guests before the podcast begins. This is inspired by the interview that is pre that is done on talk shows.

There is NO shortage of podcasts now because millions are being produced, and with about 25% of the population listening to podcasts, that’s a lot of competition to be one of those five shows per week.

Does that expense add up? Sure it does. But, always trying to raise the bar and differentiate because it’s worth it (to me).

It’s terrific to have content that is consistent with the audio of the podcast, as well as weekly blog post summaries of each show. But, you can try to create even more content out of your recaps/greatest that is monthly to podcast program hits posts.

Almost always record two shows back-to-back when you’re going to make more podcasts. It’s easier to schedule one, a larger chunk of time than a few, smaller chunks by it a while to figure this out. Plus, when you’re “in the flow” the shows are just better. I very much recommend setting aside 2-3 hours every couple of weeks, and knocking out as many podcasts as you can if you decide that you are going to do more than one.

So the relevant question is and that you should be asking is, “should you start a podcast?” but rather, “whose podcast audience are you going to steal?”

Have the host select your guests that are our own you like for instance select the guests that match your target audience. Do it the real way that is old-fashioned via email. I know there are lots of tools out there that help you pick and the right time and auto-schedule, but I hate the nature that is impersonal of technology. You’re someone that is asking to come on your show, can’t you at the exchange that is least a couple of emails to pick a time?

Only work with sponsors the business believes in personally, which is why all of the partners that are currently either platform use at a blog and/or clients that are consulting.

Do not do editing that is comprehensive to the podcasts, preferring a more vibe that is authentic. You can use Levelator to make sure the hosts and guests are at the audio that is the same and then cut out flubs that are obvious delays. The producer can also insert the show that is pre-recorded opens closes. You can use Jack at Audiobag for these recordings.

Now send all guests a USB headset and a thank you note, via Amazon. Send a Thank You Note and A badge. Then the show goes live, the producer emails guests to let them know, and encourages them to share the episode. Also, send guests a“badge that is digital that they can use on their website that is personal to promote the podcast.

A transcription that is terrific and that you use to get word-for-word transcripts of all shows at approximately $1 per minute at this point, also upload the finished audio to Rev.

Once guests are arranged, the producer can send an invite to guests and hosts. Record the shows via Squadcast, some prefer instead of Zoom and Skype.

You can so have a retargeting that is ongoing using a display like Google. So, if you’ve ever visited a Social Pros or a blog post, the chances are pretty good that you’ll sometimes see ads for new episodes on websites all around.

After each episode finishes, the host that is primary converts recording using the tool that is built-in Squadcast, and uploads it to Dropbox. A notification is sent with a proposed title for the episode by email to the producer, and provide to her/him.

You can promote each episode across the channels that are social channels of the hosts, and in the email that is sent out daily.

If you use Speechpad it sends a notification email when the transcription is complete. The producer can then take the best moments from the episode and create a blog post.  You can run a blog that is full-text, but it has to belong, so it is best to just write the highlights up.

Each podcast episode should contain three or four sponsor acknowledgments. What are your sponsors?  Sponsors can include Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Formstack, Shortstack, and Cision, or whatever your business has for their sponsors.

The WAY that you can ONLY succeed with a podcast that is new is if your show is the favorite show on the planet for a select group of people. And to be their favorite, you need to be hyper-relevant and hyper-specific. Become indispensable to a combined group that is small and then find a way to make that group larger. Then YES, a podcast should be started by you in 2021 if you can do that.

And while it’s possible that yours will create a few brand-new podcast fans who’ve never dipped into the medium previously, that’s going to be a small portion of your audience. Thus, the listeners for YOUR podcast are almost assuredly already listening to OTHER podcasts.

Once the episode is edited, it is added to the hosting platforms. You can use Libsyn. Once added there, the episodes are automatically added to the show’s feed on iTunes and other aggregators like Stitcher.

You would want guests on the podcasts to be treated like somebody special (because they are!), and they want the audio quality of the shows to be as good as it can be.

Then you’ve decided to start a podcast, congrats on it this far if you have made it! Now what?

As mentioned, you can use Squadcast to record. It’s just easier and the audio is found to be slightly more stable than Skype, and, however, I don’t recommend that you use a board that is mixing any audio that is advanced, and it is my understanding that Skype may be superior in that configuration.

During the show, you can have host-read commercials for the sponsors. The producer then can log advertiser that is new on a Google doc and that file remains on our monitor that is second during episode taping. Do not read the commercials word-for-word, but try to make them as organic to the show as possible.
